indescribable.
tonight I had an hour long conversation with a Pakistani cab driver about his Hindi wife and their refusal to let racial and religious differences prevent them from being married. he gave up his family for the sake of love and has not seen them in over 20 years. he has given his children the freedom to decide which religion they wish to pursue, if any. his daughter is 8 years old and already understands the concept of an "aura" and a universal link between all people of all races. in all honesty, there were many points where this man's story brought me nearly to tears. i felt so moved and so inspired by his story. he was willing to forsake his family and his religion for the one he loved, and taught his children to do the same. he has encouraged his youngest daughter to pursue dance, and has still maintained his connections to his wife's Hindi family, describing his mother in law as a "soft patient wonderful woman". never have I been so moved from a random meeting with a stranger, but this man has perhaps inspired my thesis. something I have thought about at great length, the science behind "race", the history behind "religion", and how both are used to exploit ethnic groups in the advertising world. also, more importantly, how advertising can be used to help eliminate or mitigate racism in the post-modern American world.

the beginning.

I have never been good at blogging. I have tried so many times and failed because I never have anything interesting to say. Two of my friends suggested I start a music blog so I figured I'd give it a shot. The game plan is to make daily mixes (hopefully) and to blog about any new records I buy. The latter part of the plan seems kind of pointless as I get most of MY music from blogs. Whatever, it's not like anyone will read this shit.
Right, so music. As it is currently 3:30AM, I figured it is only fitting to post a mix to fall asleep to. Some post-rock, and some shoegaze... pretty self explanatory.
